Joan Norma Wall 1938-2008
In loving memory of Joan Norma Wall who was born in Dryden on March 24,1938, who passed away after a lengthy illness, peacefully at the Dryden Regional Health Center, on March 23, 2008. She is survived by her loving husband Robert Wall, daughter Joanne (Hermann) Helbling, Son Timothy (Valorie) Wall, of Dryden and 9 Grandchildren and 2 Great Grandchildren. Also Numerous Nieces and Nephews. Joan is also survived by her twin sister Joyce and husband David Gardiner, Dryden On. Sister Irene Miskelly, Thunder Bay On., Sister Carol and husband Ian Simpson, Fort Frances, On. Sister Debby and Husband Blake Latimer, Dryden On. A brother Clayton and wife Dody Dunn, Vernon B.C. And sister in-law Martha Dunn, ex sister in-law Ann Dunn and friend Hans Sweintek. Joan lived with her parents, her twin sister Joyce and her four older brothers, Denver, George, Bradley and Clayton in Pine Grove On., until her father joined the army and went overseas in 1940. Joan and her family moved to Dryden where they lived until 1946 when they moved to a farm in Oxdrift. Joan received her education at Albert Street public school in Dryden, the Oxdrift Public School and the Dryden High school. She had worked for Tom and Elta Skene for 2 years cleaning and looking after the baby while attending high school. Joan worked at McKenzie Camp and the Central Hotel. Joan married Robert A. Wall on June 18, 1955. They lived in Oxdrift all of their lives where they raised their 2 Children.
She was a member of the Junior Farmers Association. Joan was involved in Bowling for a few years. She was a member of the Southbend Homemakers Club, the Oxdrift Legion and had been a leader for the 4-H Homemakers Club for 2 years. Joan was diagnosed with Cancer in 1975. She survived for 33 years constantly fighting different complications during these years.
Joan and Bob had celebrated their 50th Wedding anniversary in 2005. They attended the marriage of their Grandson in August of 2006. Joan and Bob were blessed with their first Great Grandson April 17th, 2006. Joan was predeceased by her Granddaughter, Marsha in Sept. 1977, Grandson Matthew in July 1998, a brother Bradley, Oct. 1942, her mother, Vada Dunn, May 10, 1976 ,her father, Bert Dunn Jan. 08, 1981, a brother George, Sept. 18, 1996, a brother Denver, May 08, 2006. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, March 28, 2008 at 2 p.m. at the Dryden Community Funeral Home with Rev. James Wood officiating. Interment of ashes at a later date.
