Joanne Smith

It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Joanne Smith, age 49 of Dryden, who passed away suddenly on Wednesday, September 7, 2005 at her home on Larson Bay Drive. Joanne was predeceased by her father Joseph Thiel in March 2001. She is survived by her loving husband Daniel Smith, her children Kelly Sutton (David), Brandi Brisson, and 5 grandchildren: Allison Brisson, Andrew Sutton, Danica Brisson, Makenzie Sutton and Brayden Clink. She is also survived by her Mother Shirley Thiel, grandmother Anne Ceciewa, her brothers Chris Thiel and Erwin Kienzle, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Joanne was born in Dryden March 14, 1956 and had resided here her whole life. She had a passion for her work with the MNR and enjoyed her many friends and coworkers over the years.

She always loved having her family and friends around to entertain and share her sense of humour and love of cooking. She always enjoyed fishing and spending time on the lake.

Joanne had a joyous love for animals and the numerous pets she had over many years, and always accepted a new member. She especially loved her 2 border collies, Casey and Rascal who will miss her.

There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. A memorial service to celebrate the life of Joanne Smith wwill be held at the First United Church on Monday, September 12th at 2:00 p.m. with REV John-Mark Morley officiating. Interment of ashes will be held at a later date. If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Dryden and District Humane Society through the Stevens Funeral Home, Moffat Chapel P.O Box 412, Dryden Ontario, P8N 2Z1.
