Ontario’s elementary teachers are now confirming plans to hold province-wide strike action as of Monday.
The Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario says, in a release, its members are forced to take the action because of demands sought by the provincial government and the Ontario Public School Boards’ Association in contract talks.
The union says they include giving school boards latitude to increase class sizes, directing how teachers should spend their preparation time, and curtailing teachers’ ability to use professional judgement with the instructional learning in the classroom.
