Thunder Bay North Stars captain Joe Newhouse has been named SIJHL’s RBC Scholastic Player of the Year.
With the honour, the 20-year-old earns a $1,000 scholarship to help defer the costs of his post-secondary education.
Newhouse is currently in his second year in the Kinesiology Program at Lakehead University.
The defenceman played 213-games with the North Stars and amassed 30-goals and 124-assists.
He also contributed 20-points in 33-playoff games.
Newhouse is now up for a national scholarship at the upcoming RBC Cup.
