In loving memory of Joseph “Joey” Yaroshuk, age 87 years, who died in the Dryden Regional Health Center on Saturday, November 20, 2010 following a lengthy illness.
Joey was born September 05, 1923 in Manitoba and a short while In later moved with his family to Dryden.
Joey joined the Army and shortly after was discharged for being under age. Once he was of age Joey joined the Navy and served on a Minesweeper on the west coast from 1941 to 1946. Being part of the Navy was a very important part of Joey’s life and continued to influence him throughout his life. He was a life time member of the Dryden Royal Canadian Legion. After leaving the Navy Joey returned to Dryden and began his career at the Dryden Mill until his retirement.
Joey loved to spend his time fishing and curling in his earlier years and continued his devotion to the Catholic Church throughout his life.
Joey is survived by his bother Cob and several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Funeral Mass to celebrate the life of Joey Yaroshuk was held on Wednesday November 24, 2010 in St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Dryden with Rev. Alan Campeau officiating. Branch #63 of the Royal Canadian Legion conducted a Veteran’s Memorial Service. Interment of ashes will take place at a later date.
