Justice Committee Training Continues

The extensive training process for members of the Dryden and District Youth Justice Committee continues.
Program Coordinator Bill Hovi says Raj Sud from OPP Headquarters in Orillia held a training session in Dryden over the weekend.
Hovi says the program is slowly moving forward with 10-volunteers receiving training.
2-more sessions are needed for completion by the end of the year.
The initiative diverts youth away from a formal court setting and into a community-based program where the victim and offender come together to repair any harm that’s been done.
The program is a volunteer driven one.
Hovi says the Province has approved a second group of volunteers and there training will start in the New Year.
Meantime, Hovi doesn’t expect the new Federal Crime Bill to have any impact on operations at a local level.
