Kashechewan stays with NAPS (Monday)#2

The remote first nation community of Kashechewan is

maintaining its Nishinawbe Aski Police Service detachment.

Both levels of government are negotiating with the

Nishinawbe Aski Nation over funding for the police force.

Grand Chief Stan Beardy says the discussions are

proceeding positively, and a final decision will be made

in the near future.

Beardy says their police detachment conditions are unfit

to work in and endanger police officers and inmates.
