Some sobering statistics from the Tri Force Drug Unit for delegates at the 65th KDMA meetings in Ignace.
More from Randy Pike…
The most recent figures from the Tri Force Unit shows in 2004 638 drug related charges were laid with some $263 Million in narcotics seized along with 635 restricted or prohibited weapons taken in. Those results came from a 6 member force operating between Thunder Bay & Kenora.
Province wide, OPP have seized $1.2 Billion of illegal drugs in the last 4 years & Officials say those numbers will continue to rise.
In Kenora District, the drugs of choice right now are marajuhania, coke & crack but crystal meth is rapidly gaining popularity.
Police says as staggering as those numbers are, they represent only about 20% of what is moving through the region.
At the 65th Kenora District Municipal Associationg meetings, I’m Randy Pike in Ignace.
