It only took one try to pass the Kenora District Services Board 2012 budget.
Board Chair and Red Lake Mayor Phil Vinet says they have unanimously approved the 2012 fiscal document and Municipalities will be required to shell out more than $15-million next year.
The budget is $41-million, $2-million higher than the 2011 budget which was defeated and debated at great length last year.
Vinet says the budget is a fair one but warns that the Municipal share could continue to go up due to Provincial belt-tightening, rising uncontrolled costs and wages.
The Emergency Medical Services budget for salaries and benefits is up 4% and represents a majority of the increased costs.
The Ontario Works budget has gone up 12.9% and the Emergency Medical Services budget has increased 7.5%.
The financial impact for each Municipality won’t be known until the New Year.
