No Agreement; Chief Says Issue is Now a Legal One

Aboriginal Affairs Minister John Duncan says he intends to keep the troubled Attawapiskat First Nation under third-party management, for now.
But after meeting with Attawapiskat Chief Theresa Spence and other regional chiefs in Thunder Bay, Duncan is holding out hope to the band that the financial control won’t stay long.
The minister also confirmed construction will begin on a new elementary school in the Cree community this spring, after years of lobbying by residents.
Spence says the gap between her First Nation and the Harper government is wider than ever.
Spence says after a meeting with the Aboriginal Affairs Minister, the band is going to court to try and put an end to Third Party Management.
Spence says the independant manager is doing more harm than good to the Northern community.
