The Kenora District Services Board is spending just over $130,000 to help reduce child poverty rates in the area.
The KDSB Back to School Program is on the receiving end of $42,000 as part of a commitment to support children’s ability to learn and grow.
The Northwestern Health Unit is welcoming $5,900 to run its Nutrition on Weekends Program in five communities.
The initiative provides healthy food for youth when students aren’t in the classroom during the week.
Sioux Lookout PRO Kids is looking at almost $15,000 to help children participate in organized sports and recreational activities.
Three programs in Ignace are also benefiting.
The Mary Berglund Community Health Centre Hub is looking at roughly $7,200.
The Public School Loonie Lunch Program is being supported with $6,500, while the Ignace Nursery School Parent Cooperative is receiving $2,700.
The Red Lake Kids Are Recreationally Equal program is welcoming $10,000 to help youth participate in organized sports.
