The Kenora District Services Board is applying for a provincial grant to help set-up specialized housing.
Chief Administrative Officer Henry Wall says they have a number of people without a home because of addictions or mental health issues.
Wall points out that all these individuals usually need is someone to come in and check on their well-being.
If successful, the KDSB will be able to establish 150 housing units with support services in place.
Wall says that number is significant but still doesn’t even come close to what the need is.
He says it would amount to about half of the spaces they require.
The KDSB believes they have a good case to secure the funding.
