The Kenora Catholic District School Board, which oversees St. John’s in Red Lake, says it’s been able to go ahead with a number of capital projects despite a lack of funding from the provincial government.
The Ford Conservatives cancelled a $100-million school renovation fund earlier this summer.
Director of Education Phylis Eikre says they did have to do some moving around in their budget in order to finish all of their upgrades.
She notes all schools went through some form of renewal over the summer.
A new school year opens Wednesday.
Eikre says staff and custodians have worked hard to ensure that everything is ready for the return of students.
