Kenora District Sees Population Growth

Population growth in the Kenora District.

The results of the 2016 Census have been released and it shows that 65,533 are living in the district.

That’s up 13.8% over the 2011 figures of 57,607.

31,800 individuals identify themselves as aboriginal.

The average age is listed as 37.6.

Sioux Lookout saw population growth of 4.7%, while Dryden experienced a 1.7% increase.

Red Lake saw a 12.1% drop in their population, while the City of Kenora also suffered a small decline.

Dryden population 7,749 up from 7,617 in 2011
Aboriginal Identity: 1,465
Average age: 43.7

Sioux Lookout population 5,272 up from 5,037 in 2011
Aboriginal Identity: 1,955
Average age: 37.1

Red Lake population 4,107 down from 4,670 in 2011
Aboriginal Identity: 885
Average age: 38.9

Ignace population 1,202 same as it was in 2011
Aboriginal Identity: 230
Average age: 46.8

Ear Falls population 995 down from 1,026 in 2011
Aboriginal Identity: 260
Average age: 40.2

Machin population 971 up from 935 in 2011
Aboriginal Identity: 230
Average age: 45.8
