Kenora Expansion Still On SIJHL Radar

The Superior International Junior Hockey League is hoping a regular season game in Kenora this winter will spark interest in a local franchise.

The Fort Frances Lakers will be playing the English River Miners at the Kenora Rec. Centre February 18th as part of Hockey Day in Canada celebrations.

League Commissioner Bryan Graham says they are still in negotiations with the community and still have an ownership team in place.

Graham stresses they have hockey people ready to step in and run the operation.

He notes the main thing holding back junior hockey in Kenora is ice availability.
