The Lake of the Woods District Hospital in Kenora says it’s seeking financial relief from the Ministry of Health.
That comes after posting a $1.3-million deficit last year.
Hospital CEO Mark Balcaen says the met with ministry officials back in July and they hope to hear from them shortly.
Balcaen says the new funding formula is making it very difficult for them to make ends meet.
He says the formula is based on the number of medical procedures that are done, and that’s posing problems for some smaller community hospitals.
