The Liberal candidate in the Kenora Riding is backing the work done by Leader Michael Ignatieff.
Ignatieff announced today (Tuesday) he is stepping down following his party’s rout at the polls Monday.
Roger Valley, who finished third, says he can leave with his head held high.
Valley says he was proud to work with Ignatieff and his Liberal platform.
He believes the leadership will be between Bob Rae and Ralph Goodale.
Valley is also downplaying talks of a merger with the NDP, stressing the Grits have to re-build from the bottom-up first.
As for the shocking result at the polls, Valley says they knew it would be difficult, especially with the sudden surge of the NDP.
He was pleased to see the drastic fall of the Bloc Quebecois, noting they didn’t serve much purpose.
As for a majority Conservative Government, Valley says voters made their decision and ended by saying good luck to the Conservatives.
