Kenora Lobbying For Lower Police Costs

As Dryden now begins the OPP costing study, the Mayor of Kenora is lobbying for lower police costs.

Their bill for policing is almost $5.7-million this year, a drop of almost $400,000 from 2016.

Dave Canfield says even though their costs have dropped over a million dollars in the last five years, there is still room for improvement.

Canfield notes they still sit in the top six in the province for policing costs.

He says their cost per household for policing is about $700, compared to just $200 for other communties of similar size in southern Ontario.
