Kenora MP Addresses Cap and Trade Future In Ontario

The federal government is confident it will win any court challenge to impose a Cap and Trade system on the provinces.

Ontario’s new premier Doug Ford has already announced he’s scrapping the Wynne Government’s carbon deal.

However, Kenora MP Bob Nault says it’s clear the feds has jurisdiction over this issue.

Nault says Manitoba did a legal assessment and their analysis determined that Canada has jurisdictional rights.

As for the next step, Nault says they will now have to look at other options, stressing that they have no alternative but to make sure that they reduce their carbon footprint.

The Trudeau government says any province that doesn’t have a Cap and Trade system in place by January 1st, will have one imposed on them.
