Kenora MP Discusses TPP, Trade And Other Issues

Canada reaching an agreement on a revised Trans-Pacific Partnership is extremely important in a time of uncertainty with the North American Free Trade Agreement.

That’s the belief of Kenora MP Bob Nault, who is applauding the multi-nation deal.

Nault says we need to diversify our trade and one of the key places to do that is within Asia.

He notes the participating countries have huge populations and a growing middle class.

Nault stresses this should only be beginning, stating as a trading nation, we should be looking at diversification whenever we get the opportunity.

He adds trade with Asia, the European Union and new developments with China will help diversify Canada’s economy.

Nault says the TPP will officially be signed in March, a couple of months before he leads his Foreign Affairs Committee to Asia to expand on trade talks.

Bob Nault stopped by the CKDR Newsroom on Tuesday to discuss trade, NAFTA, community consultations and Justin Trudeau’s trip to Pikangikum First Nation.
