Kenora MP Bob Nault says the end of World War I is where Canada really came out as a nation and showed its strength on the international stage.
This is the 100th Anniversary of the conflict and Nault participated in Remembrance Day ceremonies in Kenora on Sunday.
Nault says they lost a lot of soldiers during the war, but adds Canada had a huge amount of award recipients.
He says yesterday was a day to remember the sacrifices made by our troops, but notes we should be doing that every day.
Nault says he had four uncles who survived World War II.
I was truly humbled to lay a wreath at the #Kenora Legion Branch 12 in honour of those who served to preserve and protect our democracy. #CanadaRemebers #Lessweforget pic.twitter.com/pugWbhWGkM
