Youth Health Fair Tomorrow At Dryden Native Friendship Centre

“Wellness Rocks”.

That’s the theme of a major interactive Youth Health Fair being held Tuesday at the Dryden Native Friendship Centre.

Diabetes Nurse Slyvia Bergman says a number of topics will be addressed including body image, nutrition, physical health, diabetes prevention, self-care, stress reduction, Internet, bullying, smoking, cannabis, vision care and opioids.

Bergman says service providers from the Friendship Centre, Northwestern Health Unit, Dryden Regional Health Centre, Dryden Area Family Health Team, Paawidigong and FireFly will be in attendance.

An optometrist will also be on hand.

The fact-finding session is from 10:00am until 2:00 and is geared towards those aged 13-25.

However, Bergman notes they are flexible with the ages.

She notes there will be prizes and give a way’s including a mini iPad, Fit Bit, relaxation gift basket and fitness gift basket.

Bergman stresses giving youth tools to make healthy choices can have huge impacts on their health for years, decades, and even generations.
