Kenora MP Bob Nault says he will join other northern and rural MP’s to pursue a regional infrastructure funding formula for local communities.
Municipal leaders in our area have been stressing they can’t afford the cost of needed upgrades under the current system.
Nault notes it’s time to look at changes to the one-third formula.
He stresses he’s always been a supporter of an 80/20 formula, where communities are only on the hook for 20% of the cost of priority projects.
No announcement has been made on how infrastructure funding will flow in 2016.
Dryden Finance Chair Norm Bush stresses maintaining the status quo would more than double what they can afford to handle financially.
