The controversial Softwood Lumber Agreement has easily cleared its
first hurdle.
MP’s voted 172-116 Tuesday in favour of the deal, allowing the
Minority Government to avoid being toppled.
Kenora Liberal MP Roger Valley voted against it and says its a rotten
deal that will hurt Northwestern Ontario.
Valley says the agreement leaves $1-billion in the hands of
American lumber lobbyists.
He is also upset the agreement was passed without debate in
Parliament.
