Keep our tourism centers and Service Ontario Counters open.
The message from Kenora-Rainy River MPP Sarah Campbell, as she continues to stress the importance of these facilities in the region.
She says so far in the last year, the government has closed all three of the travel centers in Northwestern Ontario and hours at Service Ontario centers are being drastically cut.
In addition, Campbell notes that the government has refused to give billboard locations to tourist operators across the region, and now the Ministry of Transportation has authorized “Travel Manitoba” signs on our highways.
Campbell says it basically sends the message that “we are closed for business” and that we aren’t receptive to tourists who come to the region.
She adds that tourism in Northwestern Ontario brings in 440-million-dollars.
