The O.P.P. in Kenora has seized almost two kilograms of marijuana with a street value of over 38 thousand dollars after pulling over a speeding vehicle not once, but twice over the weekend.
Police say they initially ticketed the driver for speeding on Highway 17 west of Kenora Saturday night.
About an hour later, the same vehicle was pulled over for speeding near Paddy Lake.
While the officer was processing the speeding ticket, the driver sped off.
He tried to make a quick turn onto Highway 641, but lost control and ended up in a snowbank.
The 24 year old driver from Winnipeg was charged with careless driving, flight from police and speeding.
A search of the vehicle also turned up a large quanity of
marijuan.
Three passengers inside the vehicle were subsequently charged with possession of a controlled substance for the pupose of trafficking.
Two of the passengers charged were from Kenora, the other was from Winnipeg.
