Kenora Police Officer Cleared In SIU Investigation

The Ontario Special Investigations Unit has cleared a Kenora Provincial Police officer for use of an anti-riot weapon.

The incident took place back in April, when a 15 year old youth robbed a restaurant and attacked employees using bear spray.

The SIU says the officer located the suspect and asked the teen to put the bear spray down, but the youth didn’t comply and the officer fired an ARWEN at the individual striking him in the stomach.

He was arrested and taken to hospital.

The SIU sent three investigators to look into the incident and determined the officer acted appropriately.
