Kidder on education funding

The Keewatin-Patricia District School Board has spent the past few weeks trying to cut costs in order to present a balanced budget to the provincial government.

The group “People for Education” says the public school board is just one of 11 across the north that finds itself in a deficit situation.

Annie Kidder is a spokesperson for the group and says its forcing the boards to make some tough decisions.

N010 Q: …the cause. (20 secs.)

Kidder says while the province has increased funding for education over the past couple of years, the new funding formula has penalized the northern boards and cost them money.
