Kids In Red Lake Take To The Skies

Quite a unique opportunity for folks in Red Lake.
Over 200-people came out to the airport this past weekend for the “Kids Fly North” Program.
Airport Manager Duane Riddell says it was the first year they offered it and its loosely based on a national program that does the same thing.
Riddell says there were 8 flights that took 72-students between 8 and 17-years-old, up into the skies for a half hour tour. They were able to learn about the airplanes as well as the possibilities with a career in aviation in Red Lake.
Riddell says there is a shortage of aviation workers, so great to get youth interested in it at a young age.
While Riddell says they probably won’t offer the program next year, they are looking at offering it in years to come.
