KPDSB Tackles Growing Problem Of Concussions

A new Concussion policy has been implemented at the Keewatin-Patricia District School Board.
Superintendent Carol Hron says it focuses on strategies to prevent and deal with concussions.
Hron says it also includes training of school board staff and volunteers.
She says an athlete will be closely monitored if they suffer any kind of head injury.
Athletes will be required to go through a checklist of tests before they are cleared to play again.
Hron says they will ensure recovering students will be accommodated in terms of lighting and noise in the classroom.
The Ontario Government ordered all school boards to have rules in place by the end of next January.
