KPDSB Urges Increased Partnerships With Municipalities

The Keewatin-Patricia District School board says it’s trying to accomodate a growing demand from students from northern first nations.

Sean Monteith is the director of education and says they need to work with community partners to ensure the is adequate housing available.

Monteith says the northern students want to go to school in areas like Dryden, Sioux Lookout and Red Lake, but a lack of housing is preventing them.

He estimates there are over a thousand youth from the north that could go to school here, if there proper accommodations.
