Labour Minister Says Government Is Ready For Legalized Pot

Canada Labour Minister Patty Hajdu is encouraging businesses to review their policies around workplace health and safety.

Our country is preparing for the legalization of recreational marijuana on Wednesday.

Hajdu suggests businesses create strict policies that address substance use in the workplace.

The Thunder Bay-Superior North MP says it’s a business owners responsibility to ensure that their workplace is safe for all employees.

Hajdu believes the government has done a thorough job in terms of creating a legal framework and providing support for industry in preparation for the new rules.

She adds they’ve invested money in enforcement so police have up-to-date training and tools and have also strengthened impaired driving laws.

Hajdu says her government is providing enhanced education for young people.

You must be 19-years-of-age to use pot in all parts of Canada excluding Quebec and Alberta where it will be 18.
