Employers in the province are complaining they can’t find qualified people to fill the jobs they have open.
The Northwestern Ontario Associated Chambers of Commerce says they’re supporting a new report on the problem from the Ontario Chamber which outlines possible solutions.
Spokesperson Charla Robinson says the ideas centre around students who get out of college or university.
Robinson believes there’s an issue with apprenticeships, noting there’s not a lot of openings for first year apprentices.
She says the provincial government should be actively involved in finding work for graduating students.
She would like to see students get early hands-on training before they graduate.
