Surveys conducted by the Ministry of Natural Resources indicate a serious concern for the Lake Trout population in Red Lake.
More studies are planned throughout the year, and a public meeting is scheduled for Wednesday to discuss the options.
MNR Biologist Nadine Thebeau says poor water quality could be one of the reasons behind the decline.
Some of the Trout have been implanted with radio tags and the MNR asks that if you catch one, release it, or if you find a dead tagged Trout, return the fish to the MNR.
The public meeting will be held at the Campbell Curling Club at 6:30.
