The forest fire hazard near the Manitoba-Ontario boundary remains volatile.
A wild fire near Badger, Manitoba is now 2,000 hectares in size and is burning near the small community of Piney.
An evacuation order is in place as a result.
Smoke from the fire has been blowing into some northwestern Ontario communities.
In the meantime, all burning permits have been cancelled in the Eastern and Central parts of Manitoba due to the increased fire hazard.
Here at home, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry is reporting just two active fires, one each in the Dryden and Sioux Lookout districts.
Over the weekend, there were 8 new wild fires reported.
They were all small in size and have since been extinguished.
