The Thunder Bay North Stars relied on a stifling defence, great goaltending and some timely goals to open the Dudley Hewitt Cup with a win.
Turner Santin and Keighan Gerrie scored 36 seconds apart late in the first period and didn’t look back in a 4-0 win over the Cochrane Crunch Tuesday.
BradleyThrower and Dillon Ward provided some insurance, while Brandon Bodnar stopped 27 shots against the Northern Ontario Junior champions.
