A northwestern Ontario lawyer says he’s been contacted by dozens of people who believe they’ve been harmed by social media sites writing about crime and court proceedings in the region.
Doug Judson put out an offer to help after one such story included a photo of the wrong person charged.
Judson admits not all of who have contacted him have a clear case of defamation or libel.
“But they all certainly depict concerns about journalistic standards, and the way facts and legal proceedings have been represented on these pages.”
Judson would not say if he’s now representing any of those who have contacted him.
