CFIB Concerned Over Impact Of Postal Dispute On Small Business

The effects of the month-long postal dispute are hurting small businesses across Canada.

It goes beyond just the inconvenience of undelivered mail, the rotating strikes affect the bottom line.

Jordi Morgan, VP of the Canadian Federation of Independent Business, tells Acadia News that small businesses are especially affected.

“Over half of small businesses still pay each other by cheque sent through the mail. We recently did a survey that shows almost two-thirds of firms reported sending more than 20 pieces of mail a month.”

Yesterday, the federal government introduced back to work legislation but plans to let a mediator work with the two sides for a couple of days to try to negotiate a
settlement first.
