The NDP are calling on the Ford government to support at-home cancer treatments.
Currently, all cancer medication and treatments are covered under OHIP but some cancer medication can easily be taken at home, which is not covered.
After NDP Leader Andrea Horwath shared stories of residents’ delayed cancer treatments because of financial difficulties, Conservative MPP Ross Romano responded “we can’t just fund everything.”
Romano went on to compare complete and total funding to spoiled children who want more toys, saying “someone has to be the adult in the room.”
Horwath added that covering modern cancer treatment would ease hospital crowding and help cut wait times.
