Layoffs in Mining Industry

North American Palladium is laying off 350 workers at its mine near Thunder Bay.
The Company blames a slump in metal prices for the decision to temporarily close the Lac Des Lles mine north of the city.
The company produces 4-percent of the world’s palladium.
Prices for the metal have fallen from a high of 582-dollars an ounce U-S to 180-dollars.
