Dryden Council is being asked to support the lighting of the Sandy Beach Ball Diamonds to the tune of $180,000 in the form of a donation or a long-term loan.
Light the Ball Diamonds Committee Fundraising Chair Chris Stoiber says its imperative to act now or risk losing our ball players and economic opportunities.
Stoiber says Dryden could become a hub for sports and recreation.
Stoiber stated financial support would help them secure major grants and adds the ability to play ball at night leads to endless possibilities.
The Volunteer Committee has raised roughly $28,000 in 9-months.
Council appears to be open to the idea, but some have suggested providing funding to light one diamond to start.
