Area liquor stores may be busier then usual before the May long weekend.
Unionized employees of the Liquor Control Board of Ontario say they are prepared to walk off the job on May 17th if they can’t reach a fair contract with the retail giant.
The employees’ four-year contract with the LCBO ended March 31st and the union says “very little progress” has been made at the bargaining table.
OPSEU President Warren (Smokey) Thomas says the union has “no choice” but to prepare for a walkout.
He says key issues include boosting part-time wages and upgrades to health and safety standards.
