VCARS Raising Awareness Of Services Available

Sunset Area Victims Services is trying to raise its profile in the Dryden and Kenora area.
The agency is hosting an open house today in Dryden and Kenora from 11:00-2:00.
Executive Director Monika Huminuk says they partner with Police and Emergency Services to provide immediate emotional and practical support and referral services to victims of crime or those dealing with a tragedy.
Huminuk says they offer support 24-hours a day, seven days a week.
Huminuk says the trauma for victims is reduced when VCARS staff are able to reach someone in need right away.
She notes that in cases of criminal events, such as homicide, they offer financial support for housing, food, transportation and funeral costs.
She adds they have a strong working relationship with First Nations communities and area Chiefs to help aboriginals.
The Dryden VCARS office is located at 34G King Street.
Additional information is available at the Open House today or by going to http://www.savcars.ca
