Leaders Of Tomorrow Program Will Continue In 2013

The Dryden Police Service will once again participate in the “Leaders of Tomorrow” program.
The initiative was started by teacher and councilor Mary Trist in 2012.
The program pairs at risk youth with adult mentors.
Constable Kevin Hildenbrand says officers were heavily involved in the program last year and they are happy to once again lend a helping hand.
Hildenbrand says it’s important that officers act as a positive role model for these kids.
Last year, the officers took them ice fishing and hosted barbeques among other things.
Police Chief Rob Davis says the officers spent time with the kids while they were off-duty.
Davis says officers see this as a very important program.
Davis notes if they can make a positive interaction in kids lives early on, then hopefully they will turn to officers when they need help.
