LHIN Looks At Things In The Long Run

The Local Health Integration Network is out with its long term plan for Northwestern Ontario.
CEO Laura Kokocinski says one of their priorities is establishing an e-Health network, so the patient will not have to keep repeating their history at every health care provider.
She adds that information can be added during each visit.
Another priority for the LHIN is to get more nurse practitioners and see more walk in clinics.
Kokocinski says they will have to look at where the health service providers exist and don’t exist, and what initiatives they must take.
The LHIN’s plan also aims to ease congestion at the Health Sciences Centre, improve mobile services to meet the needs of people in the region and enhance chronic disease prevention.
Kokocinski adds the plan includes more co-operation with health care partners throughout the region.
The strategic plan was released during a media briefing on Thursday.
