It’s a big thumbs down from one northwestern Ontario MPP to the Ford government’s move to wind down a program to help those who rely on social assistance.
Thunder Bay-Superior North Liberal representative Michael Gravelle calls the decision to scrap the Basic Income pilot project a big mistake and short sighted.
Gravelle believes the program was a very good model to help get people out of poverty and to see how that process works.
He stresses he will be meeting with the Minister in charge about changing her mind.
