A member of Premier Wynne’s cabinet is expressing concern with the condition of highways in northwestern Ontario.
Northern Development and Mines Minister Michael Gravelle says winter road maintenance hasn’t been up to what it has been in the past and he’s addressed his concern with Transportation Minister Glen Murray.
Gravelle is happy to hear that fines have been levied against contractors, but says he might recommend new ones if things don’t improve.
He says they have to find people that are willing and capable of clearing the roads.
Gravelle says if things don’t change, he’ll go back to the Minister to talk about the possibility of replacing contractors.
