The Ministry of Culture has reduced funding for Ontario
Library Services North, causing the board of directors to
close it’s Thunder Bay office.
Charlotte Monardo is the National Representative of the
Canadian Union of Public Employees, and says it’s
impossible to maintain a high level of service with only
Sudbury’s office being open.

Monardo adds it’s hardly fair that Thunder Bay has lost
it’s office of four employees, while Sudbury has been given
an increase in staff and management.
The Ontario Library North looks after 135 Libraries, 35
of which serve first nation communities.
