Lightning Sparks More Fires

The Ministry of Natural Resources is thanking its lucky stars this morning that the spectacular lightning show was accompanied by heavy rain.
37-new forest fires were reported in Northwestern Ontario on the weekend, 24-on Sunday alone.
There are now 63-fires burning and more reports are being investigated.
The MNR says the forest fire reporting hot line (310-FIRE) has been ringing off the hook.
Today’s lightning is expected to spark more fires and the MNR is expecting to ramp up response and suppression efforts.
The largest fire is burning in the Red Lake District, inside Caribou Provincial Park at 934-hectares.
A 457-hectare blaze is burning on the southwest border of Wabakimi Provincial Park in the Sioux Lookout District.
