Traditionally, the month of June is the wettest of the year in most communities across northwestern Ontario, but
not this year.
According to Environment Canada, many communities had 30 to 40 millimeters less than they are used to.
Sandy Radecki is a meteorologist with the federal agency and says the month of June was also a bit warmer than usual.
N003 Q: …the month. (12 secs.)
Radecki says both Red Lake and Geralton set records for the driest June on record.
Red Lake had just 31 millimeters of precipitation which is almost 70 millimeters less than normal.
